According to a new study in Psychological Science , it is possible for you to date someone who looks like Channing Tatum even if you're more of a self-professed Liz Lemon type. By becoming friends first, Jezebel reports. The study focused on couples who were dating or married, and had been together from anywhere from three months to 53 years; their individual physical appearance as assessed by undergrad coders, who obviously know what they're doing in that department ; and how well and how long the couple knew each other before coupling up. What the study found was that people who had started dating within a month of meeting had a more similar level of hotness, while couples who had known each other or just been friends for over a month before they dated tended to be less equally matched in the hotness department.

Attracting and Dating a Woman Who is Out of Your League

Dating Study: At What Age Are Men, Women Most Desirable? - The Atlantic
Ever seen a breathtakingly beautiful woman and not said anything because she was "out of your league? If you have, slap yourself out of it. Seriously, this isn't a concept you should even think about. My mate recently joked how January is the best time of year to "bat out of your league" with women. He says hotties are more likely to settle in miserable weather. It was terrible banter, but it made me realize this: I'm a 5'9'' slaphead with facial scars and crow's feet, but it won't ever cross my mind that a woman might be "out of my league. Let's say you spot the girl of your dreams shopping for groceries.

Guys: Why 2017 Is The Year To Be Fearless And Date Out Of 'Your League'
If you've ever seen a teen comedy, you probably have seen a similar trope come up: a girl pines after the hot high school guy, but secretly, the "nerd" is pining after her. All of them are too afraid to tell each other how they feel because the other person is "out of their league. People who are "more attractive" are seen as better and therefore more unattainable. Of course, everyone wants to date someone that they find physically attractive, but in the scenario of "leagues" many people would be terrified to talk to someone that they think is "too hot" for them. There are a lot of problems with this idea.
